Logging In

The platform’s web dashboard is at splitter.firstchs.org. Click Sign in with Google. You need an account on your organization’s Client first — if you don’t have one yet, ask your Client Admin to invite you (see Members and Roles).

The first time, open the invite link your Client Admin sent you. The invite works only with the Google account for the address it was sent to, and it expires after 7 days — if yours has expired, ask for a new one.

If sign-in fails, the page tells you why:

  • “No account found for your Google identity. Please contact your organization’s administrator to request access.”
  • “This invitation has expired or has already been used. Ask your administrator to send you a new invite.”
  • “This invite was sent to a different address. Sign in with the Google account for the address your invite was sent to, or ask for an invite to this one.”
  • “This address has more than one pending invitation. Ask an administrator to remove the one you don’t need.”
  • “Your account has been disabled. Please contact your administrator.”

Some of these start with “Signed in as email — …” instead, naming the Google address you tried, so you can tell whether you picked the wrong Google account.

Your Role

What you can do depends on the role your Client Admin assigned you:

  • Readonly — sees everything, including the live preview, but can’t change anything.
  • User — runs the event day: Start Push/Stop Push, Go Live/Stop Broadcast, turning signage on and off and switching sign displays, Complete, adding, creating and replacing broadcast days, approving, discarding and requeueing clips, requeueing uploads, and Reveal/Copy on stream keys.
  • Client Admin — configures and undoes: configuring and unconfiguring events and editing their settings, Reopen, archiving and deleting clips, Delete on YouTube, OBS devices, sign assignment, restream keys, integrations, members and branding.

Managing stream keys and an event’s timezone are system-admin only. See What Each Role Can Actually Do for the full table.

Every page shows every control to every role. A control you can’t use is dimmed: hover over it (or tap it) to see why. Role and policy reasons start with 🔒, for example ”🔒 Needs User or above” or ”🔒 Needs Client Admin”; reasons about the event’s current state (for example, that the stream is live) have no 🔒. The only pages hidden below Client Admin are YouTube, Slack, Members and Branding.

Installing the OBS Plugin

Most operators also install the companion OBS Studio plugin, which lets you pick your event directly from a dock inside OBS instead of manually configuring your stream key. It’s Windows-only. OBS loads it automatically the next time it starts; you’ll find its dock listed under OBS’s Docks menu as CHS Streaming (check it there if the dock isn’t already showing).

Anyone on your Client can download it: open OBS Plugin in the left nav and click Download for Windows. The page shows “Latest version: vversion” under the button. The short version of the install notes:

  • OBS must be installed in its default folder (C:\Program Files\obs-studio). The installer refuses the Steam version of OBS, or an OBS in a folder your Windows user can write to.
  • Close OBS before installing or uninstalling the plugin.
  • The installer asks for administrator rights (a Windows UAC prompt) and installs the plugin for every Windows user on the computer.
  • The installer isn’t code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen warns: choose “Keep” in the browser, then “More info” › “Run anyway”.
  • Reinstalling or repairing OBS removes the plugin; run the plugin installer again afterwards.

The full notes, including upgrading from an older version and per-user pairing, are in Installing on Windows.

Once it’s installed, see OBS Plugin Guide to pair it.

Not Installing the Plugin?

You can also point OBS at the platform manually, without the plugin. See
Not Using the Plugin? Manual OBS Setup in the OBS Plugin Guide.
